29 Types Of Electric Cars Pass The Roadworthiness Certification In Indonesia

JAKARTA - There are 29 types of electric cars that have received Type Test Certification (SUT) and Type Test Registration Certification (SRUT) from the authorities in Indonesia. This means that electric car manufacturers can start selling their vehicles for the Indonesian market.

"From our data, there are 29 types of vehicles that have been certified and have SUT and SRUT in four-wheeled electric vehicles," said the Head of the Certification Section of the Ministry of Transportation, Jabo Nur Utip, in the workshop "EV Industry Readiness" held by the Committee for the Elimination of Lead Gasoline. (KPBB), Tuesday, September 8.

One of the electric vehicles that have passed the certification is the Hyundai Kona, and the car has been registered since some time ago on the official website of the DKI Jakarta Samsat.

In the presentation from the Ministry of Transportation, the car made by this South Korean company will be priced at IDR 674.8 million on the road in Jakarta.

For information, the Kona EV Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) is not a new product. In fact, this car has been introduced since 2018 and has also been circulating in the Thai automotive market since 2019.

The Hyundai Kona EV has a battery management system that is focused through the Smart Regenerative Braking system. In terms of performance, this system will use an on-board radar sensor which will automatically control the braking level based on the road situation and the car in front of it.

For additional information, the Hyundai Kona EV in the global automotive market comes with two battery options, namely the lite version with 100 kilowatt (kW) of power and the second one with 150 kW available on the SEL variant with both 394 Nm of torque.
