Already 133 Million People Have Received The Second Dose Of The COVID-19 Vaccine
JAKARTA - The population of Indonesia who has received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine has now increased to 133,703,748 after the second vaccination was carried out today for 1,035,757 people, according to data from the COVID-19 Task Force.
Data received in Jakarta, Thursday, also noted that the current recipients of the first dose reached 187,696,710, an increase after 406,703 people received the first injection of the COVID-19 vaccine today.
Recipients of the third dose which is intended as a booster or booster has reached 6,391,787 people. That number shows an increase of 356,895 people compared to last Wednesday (9/2).
Previously, the government targeted 208,265,720 Indonesians to get two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to achieve communal immunity or herd immunity against the respiratory disease.
Meanwhile, the Merah Putih vaccine made by Universitas Airlangga (Unair) and PT Biotis Pharmaceutical Indonesia is targeted to be mass-produced in August 2022.
In a press conference at the MUI Office in Jakarta, Thursday, President Director of PT Biotis Pharmaceutical Indonesia, FX Sudirman, said that the pre-clinical trial of the vaccine showed high efficiency and that the first phase of clinical trials were currently being conducted to examine the safety and benefits of the vaccine.
The Red and White Vaccine also has a halal certificate from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) after going through a series of tests from the MUI Food and Drug Research Institute (LPPOM) and the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
Chairman of the MUI Fatwa Sector Asrorun Niam on the same occasion said the halal fatwa for the Red and White vaccine was stipulated last Monday (7/2), in a plenary meeting of the MUI Fatwa Commission after receiving the results of research and testing from LPPOM MUI.
