Indonesian People Are Increasingly Fond Of Shopping, Cs Credit Card Transactions Reach Rp. 711 Trillion A Month
JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that there was a significant spike in financial transactions through ATMs, credit cards, and debits throughout January 2022.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said that there was a transaction growth of 14.39 percent year-on-year (yoy) last month on the three channels.
"The value of payment transactions using ATM cards, debit cards and credit cards also grew to Rp711.2 trillion," he said online after the Board of Governors' Meeting (RDG) on Thursday, February 10.
Not only that, the central bank also noted that the value of electronic money transactions grew by 66.65 percent yoy to reach Rp. 34.6 trillion and the value of digital banking transactions increased by 62.82 percent to Rp. 4,314.3 trillion.
"Economic transactions and digital finance are growing rapidly in line with the increasing expectations and preferences of the public in online shopping, the expansion and convenience of digital payment systems, as well as the acceleration of digital banking," he said.
Perry continued, QRIS transactions continued to increase in line with public acceptance, both nominal and volume, increasing by 290 percent and 326 percent, respectively.
"Bank Indonesia will continue to accelerate the digitalization of the payment system to promote economic recovery as well as an inclusive and efficient economy and finance," he said.
Meanwhile on the cash side, currency in circulation (UYD) in January 2022 increased by 10.21 percent to reach Rp.885.2 trillion.
"Bank Indonesia will continue the 2022 Sovereign Rupiah Expedition to ensure the availability of rupiah currency with maintained quality throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia and strengthen rupiah education," concluded Perry.
