Anies Used To Promise To Revoke The Governor's Regulation On Forced Evictions Made By Ahok, But The Rules Were Actually Used And Haven't Been Revised
JAKARTA - A group of residents who are members of the People's Coalition Against Eviction (KRMP) visited the DKI Jakarta City Hall today. They urged the Governor of DKI Anies Baswedam to revoke Governor's Regulation Number 207 of 2016 concerning Control of Land Use/Control without Entitled Permits.
Pergub 207/2016 was issued by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok while still serving as Governor of DKI. At that time, Ahok often used this governor's regulation to evict residents' settlements.
KRMP coordinator from LBH Jakarta, Charlie Albajili said that Anies had previously admitted that he would revise the governor's regulation. Right now, they were charging for the promise.
"When LBH Jakarta submitted a red report card to Anies some time ago, the Development Assistant had said it would revise it. But, so far we don't know what kind of follow-up will be. We from civil society have not been contacted regarding this," Charlie told reporters, Thursday, February 10.
Unfortunately for Charlie, even though this regulation was issued by Ahok, it turns out that Anies still uses regulations as a guide when evictions are carried out while in office.
He gave an example, the evictions when Anies was in charge of DKI took place at Pancoran Buntu II, South Jakarta; Vegetable Garden, Ciracas, East Jakarta; and Bukit Duri, Tebet, South Jakarta.
"Until now, there have been several cases where the eviction process has been carried out through this gubernatorial regulation. Even though this gubernatorial regulation was formed by the previous provincial government, the fact that this has been allowed to apply actually shows that it is counter-productive to this value," Charlie explained.
