Visit Wadas Village, Commission III DPR Wants To Hear Directly Allegations Of Violence Perpetrated By Officials
JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR made a specific visit to Wadas Village, Bener District, Purworejo, Central Java. The commission for law, which is partnered with the National Police, wants to hear firsthand the allegations of violence by the officers against Wadas residents.
This information was conveyed by the Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Prince Khairul Saleh. As for the specific post-conflict work work, it was led by the Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra faction Desmond J. Mahesa.
"It is true that (DPR Commission III) paid a visit to Wadas Village led by Mr. Desmond," said the Prince when contacted, Thursday, February 10.
In addition to hearing directly from the public regarding the incident in Wadas Village, the PAN legislator said the specific visit was in the context of monitoring the performance of law enforcement officers in the field.
"We want to hear directly from the public regarding the alleged occurrence of violent acts by the police against the community," said Prince.
Then, he said, the results of the visit would later become a recommendation for Commission III of the DPR to be submitted to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
During the special visit, Desmond was accompanied by several other members of Commission III of the DPR. Among them, Safaruddin and Gilang Dhiela Fararez from the PDIP faction, Supriansa from the Golkar faction, Obon Tabroni from the Gerindra faction, Taufik Basari from the NasDem faction, Rano Al Fatih from the PKB faction.
As well as Hinca Pandjaitan from the Democratic faction, Muhammad Nasir Djamil from the PKS faction, Nazaruddin from the PAN faction, and Arsul Sani from the PPP faction.
Previously, Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi ensured that there were no thousands of police deployed to the future Bener Dam location in Wadas Village, Purworejo Regency, on Tuesday, February 8.
"There are no thousands of police officers, only 250 personnel have been deployed to assist 10 teams from BPN," said the regional police chief in a press release in Semarang, Wednesday, February 9.
The Central Java Regional Police Chief together with the Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo held a press conference at the Purworejo Police Station which was also attended by the Head of the Central Java National Land Agency (BPN) Regional Office Dwi Purnama, and Purworejo Regent Agus Bastian.
According to him, the police accompanied officers from BPN to measure the land belonging to Wadas Village residents who agreed that their land was being acquired for the construction of one of the national strategic projects.
The activity, he continued, was also attended by land owners to ensure the measurement process.
"Because the area measured is approximately 114 ha, there are 10 teams from BPN that carry out the measurements. Each team is accompanied by around 20 personnel," he said.
