TNI Age Limit Sued To MK, House Of Representatives Commission I Agrees To Be Raised To 60 Years
JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) again holds a trial for a judicial review of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Armed Forces (UU TNI), Tuesday, February 8.
The trial was held over the filing of a lawsuit by Lieutenant Colonel (Purn) Euis Kurniasih and five of his colleagues regarding the retirement age for TNI personnel to be the same as in Pati Polri.
In response, Member of Commission I DPR from the Golkar faction, Dave Laksono, admitted that he agreed that the retirement age for TNI personnel would be increased to 60 years.
"I agree if it is raised to the age of 60," said Dave Laksono when contacted, Thursday, February 9. The Golkar politician assesses that the age of 60 is still quite productive. According to him, with the growing number of TNI, more officers and non-commissioned officers are needed.
Previously, the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa conveyed a statement via a virtual connection. General Andika explained that regarding the retirement age limit, the government and the DPR will immediately discuss it in the plan to change the Law on the TNI Law which has been included in the list of the national legislation program (Prolegnas). "Our retirement age limit explains that at this time the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives will discuss the plan to amend the Law on the TNI Law which has been included in the list of national legislation programs, including changes to the retirement age limit," Andika said in a hearing broadcast on the Youtube channel of the Indonesian Constitutional Court. The discussion on changes to the TNI Law, including the retirement age limit, will immediately roll over in the DPR.
