Waiting for Legal Clarity on the Case of a Woman, Who Was Caught Performing Sex Act in West Sumatra

PADANG - A woman in Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra, was paraded by the residents for allegedly committing obscenity. The woman was paraded without wearing a shirt, and it was videotaped.

Head of Public Relations of the West Sumatra Police, Kombes Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, said that the victim allegedly committed obscenity with a man. According to him, she did the act more than once.

Initially, the couple was caught with the same acts in March 2020. At that time, the problem ended in the hands of a community leader. The couple was obliged to pay a fine.

Last week, on Sunday, August 30, the couple was caught for the second time. The residents were annoyed, and they paraded the woman without clothes, then took a video of the incident.

"For this second incident, the couple had previously been reprimanded by residents several times. But they ignore it. And at that time, the residents were raided," said Satake.

After this second incident, the couple was again fined by the traditional leaders. The couple who had previously made a letter of agreement not to repeat the act were finally married.

"The actions of the people who do things contain a criminal element. It is still under investigation who recorded, posted, and deleted them," said Satake.

A week later, the Pasaman Police finally explained the case. The police said there were no cases in the incident and no one was a suspect.

"No one was paraded around the village. She was taken to the wali jorong. It's all over, tomorrow we plan to release it," said Head of Pasaman Police AKBP Dedi Nur Andriansyah.

"Because there are no cases, no suspect. So tomorrow, we will explain it, so we don't confuse things," he added.
