Dozens Of Students Exposed To COVID-19, Closed Access To MAN Insan Cendikia Pekalongan Complex
PEKALONGAN - The Pekalongan City Government in Central Java Province implemented a regional quarantine at the Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Insan Cendikia Pekalongan complex after 46 students and teachers at the school were confirmed to have contracted COVID-19.
"Currently, we are locking or closing access at MAN IC. So, we are limiting face-to-face learning, while at MAN Insan Cendikia it is locked," said Pekalongan Mayor Afzan Arslan Djunaid, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 9.
45 students who contracted COVID-19 while undergoing self-isolation in the MAN Insan Cendikia dormitory and a teacher infected with the corona virus self-isolated at home.
"We are conducting centralized self-isolation by considering to facilitate monitoring of COVID-19 cases, especially the facilities and infrastructure at the school are complete," he said.
"We hope that dozens of students and teachers who have been confirmed positive can recover soon so that PTM (face-to-face learning) activities can run safely and smoothly," he added.
Afzan said it was not yet known for sure whether students and teachers at MAN Insan Cendikia were infected with the Omicron variant of the corona virus because the results of their laboratory tests had not yet been released.
"What is clear is that all of them are still undergoing self-isolation under the supervision of medical personnel and all categories of people are asymptomatic. It is not certain whether it is Omicron or not because the results are still being checked in the Semarang laboratory," he said.
Meanwhile, as many as 275 students of MAN Insan Cendikia as well as teachers and education staff at the school have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
