Seeing A Mass Marriage And Realizing There Is No Partner Other Than Islam
JAKARTA - There were no mass marriage participants who were other than Islam at the Jakarta City Hall on New Year's Eve 2020. Last year's mass marriage ceremony also did not include couples who were religious than Islam.
Head of DKI Mental and Spiritual Education Bureau Hendra Hidayat admitted this. There is a reason why all participants in mass marriage are Muslim.
He said, marriage is a ritual of worship that cannot be combined with various religions. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government has uniformed the wedding procession with Islamic law.
Starting from the tausyiah about marriage advice delivered by Uztas Adi Hidayat, to the symbolization of the consent process with the leader in this mass marriage ceremony.
"Isbat married with a consent Kabul, which is a process like this is only for Islam. Given that Christianity and other religions are not in the KUA," said Hendra at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, some time ago.
Although this uniformity has been going on for three consecutive years, Hendra stated that no protests had come from people of religions other than Islam.
"They realize that the process is an Islamic process. So, for example, if it is something else from worship rituals such as the distribution of the KJP, they will just protest," he said.
As is known, the oldest mass marriage partners are Adjid Effendi (77 years) and Rimih (55 years). Meanwhile, the couples with the youngest age are Samsul Bahri (24 years) and Finna Nurfauziyah (21 years).
Apart from these two couples, the rest had already been married off beforehand. Lurahs whose citizens participate in mass marriages have been assigned to facilitate the marriage process at the local Office of Religious Affairs.
"This process has been going on since June, we have started looking for data, looking for people who will carry out the isbat and the new marriage. Reflecting on last year, where each of our partners prepared a table to be married, it was too long," said Hendra.
The total number of mass marriage participants was 633 pairs, consisting of 143 new weddings and 490 pairs of weddings. All couples will receive free marriage fees and marriage fees, a dowry of Rp1 million and wedding gifts.
