Wayan Koster: There Are 10 Thousand Active Cases Of COVID-19 In Bali, Omicron Is The Cause Of The Spike

DENPASAR - Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the spike in COVID-19 cases in Bali was due to omicron.

"If the case that appears now, I think it is already the Omicron variant of COVID-19. It also appeared about three weeks since the new year ended in Bali," Koster told reporters in Denpasar, Bali, Tuesday, February 8.

The spike in COVID-19 cases in Bali started on January 15. The daily number of cases reached 4 digits. Currently, according to Koster, active cases of COVID-19 are estimated at 10 thousand.

"Now the active cases have reached more than 10 thousand. The active cases are Omicron. I think it is Omicron because the development is very fast, that's roughly the extraordinary acceleration," he said.

Of these cases, Koster said 90 percent were asymptomatic. The rest went to a referral hospital because of mild symptoms.

"Now I am changing (again), for those who have COVID-19, even if they have mild symptoms, they must go into centralized isolation, they cannot self-isolate. Only those with moderate and severe symptoms are admitted to the hospital," he said.
