The Appearance Of A Pensive Bogor Resident Was Sentenced To Enter An Ambulance With A Coffin
JAKARTA - A number of residents of Bogor Regency, West Java were sentenced to enter an ambulance containing a coffin. This punishment is claimed to be an 'innovation' sanction for violators of health protocols who do not wear masks.
"This is to give a deterrent effect to violators of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Bogor Regency," said Parung Sub-district Head, Yudi Santosa, quoted from Antara, Monday, September 7.
Eight people were sentenced to enter the ambulance for several minutes. The offenders who did not wear masks were asked to sit for a few minutes side by side with coffins in the ambulance.
According to Yudi, the sanctions were aimed at reminding violators that if they did not wear masks, they would be closer to the risk of death amid the coronavirus pandemic, COVID-19.
"It could cause his own death, because he was exposed to COVID-19, then spread it to his family and other people. Let them contemplate next to the coffin, ”he explained.
Yudi said, in the joint operation involving Satpol PP and TNI-Polri, several violators were given sanctions in other forms, namely pushups.
The Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) previously increased the nominal fine of the mask regulation on large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) for adapting to new habits (AKB), from Rp50 thousand to Rp100 thousand.
The Rp. 100,000 fine for people who do not wear masks in public places is stated in Regent Regulation (Perbup) No 52 of 2020, as an amendment to Perbup No 42 of 2020.
Article 11 explains that apart from fines, there are two other sanctions for similar violations, namely verbal warning and social work in the form of cleaning public facilities.
