Karawang Police Appoints A Woman Suspect In Bodong Online Arisan Case
KARAWANG - The Karawang Regency Police have named a woman as a suspect for a fake online social gathering that had gone viral on social media some time ago.
"This woman with the initial D is the leader or owner of a fake online social gathering," said Karawang Police Chief AKBP Aldi Subartono, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 7.
He said a woman with the initials D was still undergoing the process of being investigated by the Karawang Police Satreskrim investigator, for further deepening and development of the fraudulent social gathering case in Karawang.
"We are currently still conducting an intensive examination of one suspect with the initials D, we are also continuing to investigate this online social gathering case," he said.
Meanwhile, Karawang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, AKP Oliestha Ageng Wicaksana said that suspect D was the leader or owner of the fake online social gathering. Currently, it is still being investigated.
"For the victims who made the police report (LP), so far there are three of the several people who have become victims of this case. The losses to the victims for now have reached around Rp. 800 million," he said.
This fake online gathering in Karawang previously went viral on a number of social media platforms, taking place in 2021. This fake online gathering uses a "Get" system which is bigger than "Pay" according to the date.
For example, pay Rp 4 million and get Rp 5 million on December 3, meaning that every customer or online social gathering participant does not need to pay in installments within a certain period like social gathering in general (just waiting for the date).
Suspect D, who is the owner of an online social gathering in Karawang, then looks for people (online social gathering participants) to buy the social gathering, with the lure that this social gathering is on a large scale with a city from Bandung, and it is guaranteed that a lawyer or legal representative will have problems later.
The online arisan, which lasted until December 2021, finally had problems because the woman with the initial D ran out of money and couldn't play the arisan money anymore.
Until now, the local police are still investigating the case of the fake online social gathering.
