Sara Consider Reporting Teasing 'Smooth Thighs Candidate Wawali Kota Tangsel'
JAKARTA - South Tangerang deputy mayor candidate Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo is considering taking legal action against the tweet of the Cipta Panca Laksana Democratic Party cadre via his Twitter account @ panca66.
Panca, via his Twitter account, had tweeted a statement about sexual harassment. "The thighs of the candidate for deputy mayor of Tangsel are really smooth," read Panca's tweet, which was uploaded on Friday, September 4. Now this tweet is deleted.
Sara's consideration came after many women activists and those who were anti-sexual violence encouraged her to report acts of virtual harassment.
"The question arises whether I will report it legally. Once again, my activities are very busy and I focus on socializing it to the public. I say that I will consider it," said Sara as quoted from her written statement, Monday, September 7.
The nephew of the Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto reiterated his disappointment with political figures who objectified women, let alone a candidate for regional head like himself.
"I am disappointed that there are political figures objectifying women, let alone a candidate for regional leadership," he said.
"But if I really don't mean it, yes, maybe what I mean is my rivals who in fact are all men, because clearly what is being said is a 'candidate for deputy mayor of Tangsel' not a candidate for mayor. Of course it is the right of the other two candidates to respond, "he added.
Previously, after tweeting the anonymous statement, Panca then deleted his writing. The Democratic cadre, via his Twitter account @ panca66, also expressed his apology.
"Regarding my personal tweets regarding the smooth thighs of the Tangsel cawalkot already viral, I hereby delete the tweet. I apologize to those who feel offended by the tweet. Indeed, my style on twitter is like that. Sorry again," said Panca via her account. Twitter @ panca66, Monday, September 7.
Even so, until this tweet was deleted, Panca denied that the tweet was intended for Sara, who had uploaded her photo while running and wearing shorts.
"Go ahead, she (Sara) assumes that, I don't mention her name," said Panca, Sunday, September 6.
