Minister Of Health Budi: 69 Percent Of COVID-19 Patients Died Because They Were Not Vaccinated
JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said most of the COVID-19 patients who died had not received the full dose or had not even been vaccinated. So he asked the public to immediately get an injection of the COVID-19 vaccine at the nearest health facility.
"That 356 people have died due to COVID-19 since January 21, 69 percent of which have not been fully vaccinated or have not been vaccinated at all," Budi said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, February 7.
In addition to death, Budi also said that currently there are 58 people who are being treated at the hospital due to severe and critical conditions due to exposure to COVID-19. Of these, 60 percent of them have not been vaccinated or have not received a complete dose of vaccine.
Based on this condition, Budi then asked the public to immediately get the COVID-19 vaccine. He said the entire community, especially vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly, had to be injected so they wouldn't experience an emergency when exposed.
"People who have not been vaccinated, especially the elderly, must be vaccinated immediately. And those who have not been vaccinated twice, immediately get vaccinated," said the former Deputy Minister of SOEs. "Because this is very important to protect them," added Budi.
For information, currently 186,589,750 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 131,080,731 people have received the second dose of vaccination.
Meanwhile, 5,536,572 people have received the third dose of vaccine or booster for the COVID-19 vaccine. The target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
