Call King Salman And Donald Trump About A Fair Solution For Palestine

JAKARTA - The King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud expressed his desire for a permanent solution to the Palestinian problem. Salman spoke to Trump on the issue.

Reported by Antara , Monday, September 7, King Salman spoke to President of the United States (US) Donald Trump. The discussion on Sunday, September 8, was a continuation of the historic agreement to normalize relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israel.

The US mediated in the agreement last month. In the agreement, the UAE agreed to normalize relations. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia views the agreement as a major starting point for the Arab Peace Initiative that the kingdom proposed in 2002.

King Salman told Trump that he appreciated the US 'efforts to support peace. Salman also said Saudi Arabia wanted to see a just and permanent solution to the Palestinian problem, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative.

Under the proposal, Arab states have offered normalized relations to Israel in exchange for a state agreement with Palestine and full Israeli withdrawal from territory captured in the 1967 Middle East war.

Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam and the site of the holiest holy sites, does not recognize Israel. However, this month the kingdom said it would allow flights between the UAE and Israel, including by Israeli aircraft, to use its airspace.

White House adviser and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner said he hopes other Arab countries normalize relations within a few months. No other Arab country has said it has so far considered following the UAE's lead.

King Salman's son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Kushner discussed the need for Palestine and Israel to continue negotiations and achieve lasting peace after Kushner visited the UAE last month. The UAE-Israel deal was fulfilled by the overwhelming Palestinian opposition.

Before the UAE, the US also mediated the normalization of Israel's relations with two other Arab countries, namely Egypt and Jordan.
