Replace Susi Air, The Hangar At Malinau Airport Will Be Occupied By Smart Avitation

JAKARTA - Smart Avitation airline from PT Smart Cakrawala will occupy the hangar at Colonel RA Bessing Malinau Airport, North Kalimantan, which was formerly occupied by Susi Air.

This news was confirmed by the CEO of Smart Avitation, Pongky Majaya when contacted by VOI.

"Yes (it will occupy the former Susi Air hangar, ed)," said Pongky via text message, Saturday, February 5.

Complementing Pongky's statement, Executive Staff for BoD Smart Avitation, Jois Christine Gautama said that they had obtained permission to occupy the hangar since the end of December 2021. Meanwhile, the application for permits had been made around September-October of the same year.

"The application has been submitted since September-October 2021, but it was only received at the end of December," said Jois.

After obtaining a rental permit, Smart Avitation should have started occupying the hangar at Malinau Airport on January 1.

However, this was not done because the property of the former occupant, namely Susi Air. So, they had to wait before occupying the hangar.

"(Should have started occupying it, ed) as of January 1, 2022," he said.

"We still want to occupy the hangar as soon as possible, sure. But for one reason or another and there are still items belonging to the old occupants which will definitely become an obstacle to our placement, it is not as desired," added Jois.

For information, PT Smart Cakrawala Avitation is an unscheduled commercial transportation service company. Quoted from their website, the company was founded in late 2016.

The airline owns and operates 11 Cessna Caravan 208/208B aircraft, one Airbus H 130 T2 helicopter and two Pilatus PC 6 Porter aircraft.

In addition, this year Smart Avitation is adding to its fleet, namely 3 Pilatus PC6 Porters in 2022, 4 Cessna Caravan 208B, and plans to buy a twin-engine Cessna 408 SkyCourier. The aircraft operations are carried out at a private airport in Singkawang, West Kalimantan.
