An Earthquake With A Magnitude Of 6.9 Occurred In Melonguane, North Sulawesi

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 occurred in Melonguane, North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi). This earthquake was reported to be 10 km deep.

Quoted from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), this earthquake occurred at 22:23 WIB, Sunday, September 6.

The earthquake was located at 6.11 North Latitude, 125.98 East Longitude or 247 Km northwest of Melonguane, North Sulawesi. It was confirmed that the BMKG had no potential for a tsunami.

The earthquake in the sea was felt on a scale of MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity) III in Siau and MMI III in Tahuna. BMKG said the MMI III scale means that vibrations can be felt in the house.
