The Coordinating Minister For Airlangga's Quick Action Follows Up On The President's Directions For Evaluation Of PPKM Levels Outside Java-Bali
JAKARTA - The PPKM Coordinator for the outer Java-Bali region, Airlangga Hatarto, responded quickly to President Joko Widodo's direction to evaluate the PPKM level in all regencies/cities for regions outside Java and Bali.
Airlangga, who is also the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs along with his staff, immediately conducted a technical discussion and evaluation of the PPKM level on Friday, February 4. Airlangga said, the results of the technical meeting will be directly discussed with the relevant Ministries/Institutions at the technical level today.
Furthermore, a Limited Coordination Meeting (Rakortas) of the Ministers/Leads of the relevant Institutions will be held, as well as inviting the Governor and Regent/Mayor, which is planned to be held on Saturday, February 5, to discuss the Evaluation of the Development of COVID-19 Cases and Adjustment of PPKM Levels for Outside Java and Bali.
"With the surge in active cases of COVID-19 in the country due to the Omicron variant in the last few days, the Central Government immediately coordinated with the Regional Government to ensure the readiness of Health Facilities, from the number of Hospitals, the availability of Medicines, Oxygen Cylinders, the need and availability of Centralized Isolation Facilities. – if needed, and also the readiness of Health Workers in the area. Preparations as an anticipatory measure, it must be ensured to anticipate the increase in COVID-19 cases outside Java and Bali," said Airlangga in an official statement, Friday, February 4.
Airlangga who is also the Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) added, for areas outside Java-Bali, the addition of daily confirmed cases as of February 3, 2022 was 1,736 or 6.4 percent of the total national daily cases of 27,197 cases. Of the daily cases, 1,727 cases were due to local transmission, while 9 imported cases, which means that 99.5 percent of cases outside Java and Bali were due to local transmission. Currently, the number of Active Cases for areas outside Java-Bali is 6,801 cases or 5.9 percent of the total national Active Cases which reached 115,275 cases, with 4 deaths or 10.5 percent of the national total of 38 deaths. .
"The proportion of daily confirmed cases, active cases, and deaths for Outside Java-Bali is still relatively low, but the upward trend has been quite high in recent times," he said.
According to him, this should be a concern for all, and a vigilance to immediately prepare anticipatory steps.
Based on data from the PCPEN Committee, data on Active Cases as of February 3, 2022 in 27 provinces outside Java and Bali, compared to data as of January 1, 2022, there are 16 Provinces whose Active Cases have increased by more than 80 percent. There are 11 provinces outside Java and Bali with more than 200 active cases, even 4 provinces, namely Lampung, North Sumatra, Papua and Riau Provinces, which have more than 500 active cases.
