Charged With Corruption In The Construction Of A Jetty Jetty Of IDR 2.3 Billion In Aceh Besar, M Zuardi's Attorney Denies

ACEH - The defendant in the alleged criminal act of corruption in the construction of a jetty or jetty in Aceh Besar District, M Zuardi, has denied the charges by the public prosecutor.

Mirdas Ismail, the legal advisor for the defendant M Zuardi, read the objection or exception at the trial at the Banda Aceh Corruption Court in Banda Aceh, Thursday, February 3.

The trial with the panel of judges was chaired by Deni Syahputra and accompanied by Nani Sukmawati and Edwar respectively as member judges. Meanwhile, the public prosecutor (JPU) attended Dikha Savana from the Aceh Besar District Attorney.

Previously, the public prosecutor demanded that the defendant M Zuardi commit a criminal act of corruption in the construction of the Kuala Krueng Pudeng jetty in Lhoong District, Aceh Besar District, at the Aceh Provincial Water Service for the 2019 budget year with a state loss of Rp. 2.3 billion.

Mirdas Ismail said that the Public Prosecutor's Office had compiled a vague indictment regarding the innocence of his client, M Zuardi. In addition to the planning process, M Zuardi was also charged with the implementation process.

"In fact, our client is not involved in the process of implementing the construction of the Kuala Krueng Pudeng jetty in Aceh Besar District. Because someone else is acting as the power user of the budget," said Mirdas Ismail.

Mirdas Ismail said that his client M Zuardi initially served as the Budget User Authority (KPA) for the construction of the Kuala Krueng Pudeng jetty in Aceh Besar District. On the way there was a change of KPA from M Zuardi to Ade Surya.

According to Mirdas Ismail, his client M Zuardi's involvement in the project was limited to planning. While the implementation was not involved because the position of KPA changed to Ade Surya.

"Based on these facts, we reject the indictment of the public prosecutor who accused our client of being involved in a criminal act of corruption in the construction of the Kuala Krueng Pudeng jetty in Lhoong sub-district, Aceh Besar district," said Mirdas Ismail.

Therefore, Mirdas Ismail asked the panel of judges to hear the case to grant defendant M Zuardi's exception in its entirety.

"We also ask the panel of judges to declare the public prosecutor's indictment null and void and declare that defendant M Zuardi is free from all charges by the public prosecutor," said Mirdas Ismail.

After hearing the defendant's exception, the panel of judges will continue the trial next week with the agenda of hearing the public prosecutor's objections to the objections of the defendant and his legal advisor.
