KSAL: Formation Of The Indonesian Military Command To Deal With The Situation In The South China Sea

JAKARTA - The Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral TNI Yudo Margono said the formation of the Indonesian Fleet Command was just inaugurated to deal with challenges and threats in Indonesian waters, including the situation in the South China Sea (LCS).

"It's no secret that the situation in the South China Sea will be a challenge for us all. I think we understand everything, it's no longer a secret," Kasal said after inaugurating the formation of the Indonesian Military Command at the Koarmada I Pondok Dayung Pier, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, as reported by Antara. , Thursday, February 3.

According to him, the formation of the Indonesian Military Command is very necessary because there are several "trouble spots" in the western region, including the Natuna Sea, the Malacca Strait, the Singapore Strait, and the border with India.

"And in the east it is in Ambalat, the Pacific, then in the Arafuru Sea. So with these various challenges the Indonesian Military Command was formed," explained Yudo.

Yudo said that the Indonesian Armed Forces Command was the Main Operational Command which is located under and responsible to the TNI Commander and the Main Command for Development which is located under and responsible to the KSAL which was established based on Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2019 and Regulation of the TNI Commander Number 23 of 2021 as well as Naval Chief of Staff Regulation No. 3 of 2022.

KSAL also confirmed and took the oath of Vice Admiral (Laksdya) TNI Agung Prasetiawan as the first Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces.

The inauguration was carried out based on the decision of the TNI Commander Number Decision 66/I/2022 dated January 21, 2022 concerning Dismissal from and Appointments in Position within the TNI.

In carrying out organizational functions, he said, the Indonesian Armed Forces Commander is assisted by the Chief of Staff who coordinates the tasks of the leadership assistant elements consisting of the Inspector, Kapok Sahli and Assistants, as well as service elements and elements of the implementing agency.

While the elements implementing operations and coaching, the Indonesian Armed Forces Commander oversees the Commander of the Armed Forces I, the Commander of the Armada II, the Commander of the Armed Forces III, the Dankoopskasel (submarine unit), Dankoppeba, Dankolat, Dansatud, Dansatmar and Dandenintel.

As an operational and development city, whose working area stretches from Sabang to Merauke and from Miangas to Rote Island, the Indonesian Military Command has three Koarmada responsible for fostering and operating the Integrated Fleet Weapon System (SSAT) consisting of warships (KRI), aircraft air, Marine and base.

The Fleet I Command, based in Jakarta, led by Rear Admiral TNI Arsyad Abdullah, is responsible for the development and operation of the command in the Indonesian Western Waters, which stretches from North to South, which is marked by an imaginary line that divides West Kalimantan to Cirebon.

The Second Fleet Command, based in Surabaya, led by Rear Admiral TNI Iwan Isnurwanto, is responsible for the development and operation of his command in the Central Indonesian waters, which is marked by an imaginary line bordering the working area of Koarmada I in the west and an imaginary line stretching from North to South at ALKI III.

The Fleet III Command, based in Sorong, led by Rear Admiral TNI Irvansyah, is responsible for the development and operation of its command in the Eastern Indonesian waters, which is marked to the west by an imaginary line bordering the working area of the Second Commando in ALKI III.

In the operational aspect, these three Koarmada are in charge of the Marine Combat Group and the Marine Security Group, while in the coaching aspect they are in charge of Lantamal, Lanal, a Ship Unit consisting of the Eskorta Ship Unit, Submarine Unit, Amphibious Ship Unit, Fast Ship Unit, Mine Ship Unit and Auxiliary Ship Unit.

While the Patrol Vessel Unit is under the ranks of Lantamal. These three Koarmada also oversee the Air Unit, Marine Unit and Training Command as well as Denintel.
