Asking For Simultaneous Elections To Be Revisited, Fahri Hamzah: Don't Let The People's Party Become A Death Party
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Gelora Party, Fahri Hamzah, assessed that the decision of the General Elections Commission (KPU), the Government of Indonesia, and the DPR which had agreed that the general election would be held simultaneously on February 14, 2024, should be reviewed. According to him, the 2024 elections should not be held in the same year or simultaneously. He also suggested that the DPRD election be merged with the Pilkada.
"We encourage that the election schedule should not be made at the same time, although maybe some have already been decided," Fahri told reporters, Thursday, February 3. The former deputy chairman of the DPR admitted that he was worried that if the elections were held simultaneously, the five-year democratic party would cause many victims, as happened in the 2019 general election. injured by the death of so many officers," explained Fahri.
Don't let it be, said Fahri, that the election is not a people's party, but a procession like a murder procession. "Many people died at the event," he continued. Even so, Fahri believes that efforts to improve the 2024 election system will bear fruit. That is, they can get out of the oligarchy of political parties and oligarchs who straddle political parties.
"We have time to try to improve this situation until hopefully the 2024 election will be an election that brings new hope and new goodness to the Indonesian people," Fahri said.
Fahri also hopes that President Jokowi can reform the electoral system in the remaining three years and two months of his remaining term of office.
"You don't need to ask for three periods. As of today, Pak Jokowi still has three years and two months. That's enough time to fix our election (system), restore our democracy so that it is on the right track, back to the people," he said. Fahri Hamzah.
