Regarding The 2024 Presidential Election, PKS Wants A Military-Civil Candidate Duet
JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has signaled its support for pairs of candidates with military and civilian backgrounds or vice versa. This is at the same time PKS's consistency in carrying out nationalist-religious candidates.
"Because the nationalist-religious factions have collaborated since the beginning of preparations for independence in 1945, during the formulation of the ideology of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution," said Al Muzzammil Yusuf, Head of Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the PKS DPP to reporters, Wednesday, February 2.
Regarding who the figure in question is, PKS has not mentioned the name. It is known, PKS nominate the Chairman of the Syuro Council Salim Segaf Al Jufri to run as a candidate in the upcoming presidential election. That is, if Salim is still the champion then PKS is just looking for a military figure
Meanwhile, figures with military backgrounds are currently only the Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto and the Democratic Party chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) who are candidates for the 2024 presidential election based on the results of several survey institutions.
According to Al Muzammil, the nationalist-religious embodiment (manifestation) is a military-civilian duet or vice versa. "The manifestation is a combination of candidates between the western Indonesia region (WIB)-Wita or WIT. It can also be a combination of civil-military or military-civilian, and others," explained Muzzammil.
However, regarding the presidential/wapres candidate, the member of Commission I DPR from PKS considers it too early. "About the name of the candidate, it is too early.
Currently, said Al Muzammil, PKS will proactively communicate with other parties while recording the aspirations that arise. Both from PKS cadres and sympathizers and the wider community.
"PKS will be proactive, continue to stay in touch and have dialogue with party leaders. And of course PKS will record and pay attention to the votes of the people's choices through various survey results, including the voices of PKS cadres and sympathizers," he said.
