Suryopratomo Reveals Ainun Najib's Reaction When Jokowi's Name Was Called And Asked To Come Home
JAKARTA - Surprisingly, President Jokowi mentioned the name of Ainun Najib, an outstanding young man who deserves to be invited home to build Indonesia. It turned out that according to Suryopratomo, the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Ainun was surprised to learn that his name was mentioned by the president at the Inauguration of the PBNU Executive Board and the 96th Harlah of Nahdlatul Ulama, in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, January 31.
The reaction shown by Ainun, who was surprised that his name was mentioned as the number one person in Indonesia, was conveyed by Suryopratomo when the Indonesian Embassy staff contacted the young man from East Java. "Earlier, friends (staff) of the Indonesian Embassy had called Ainun Najib, he said he was surprised when his name was mentioned by the president," said Tommy as he is usually called when contacted by VOI via a virtual meeting application Monday, January 31.
Ainun, who occupies the position of Head of Analytics, Platform & Regional Business at Grab Singapore, said Tommy is not alone. There are still several other names who also excel and occupy important positions in multinational companies that have offices in the Lion country.
"I call the President Director of Credit Suisse for the Asia Pacific Region, based in Singapore, in my opinion, there are no less great people. Then there are many research institutions. We don't lack great human resources," he said.
According to Suryopratomo, who before becoming ambassador was a journalist, to make Indonesians who work in multinational companies return to their homeland, it is necessary to create a conducive climate and also a "field" or place to work that is right for them to develop their abilities.
"How does an interesting system exist in Indonesia. So that they want to come back and build Indonesia faster. In the time of Pak Harto, Pak Habibie was pulled back from Germany to become a figure who could lift Indonesia and he could even become president," he said.
Still, Tommy said, appreciation for what has been painstakingly built and proven to have a place and also appreciation abroad, also needs to be in Indonesia. "The system must be built so that it is attractive. That person must be rewarded based on his work and abilities. If you can build a merit system, Indonesia will progress faster. Everyone who has great potential can be given the opportunity to build this nation and country," he said.
Likewise for Ainun Najib who was asked to return to Indonesia. And Jokowi asked the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama, whom he had just appointed as management, to recall the young man who was born in Gresik, East Java, October 20, 19585. Hopefully the President's wish will come true and the PBNU management will be able to carry out this task.
