Mayor Singkawang Tjhai Chui Mie Positive COVID-19

PONTIANAK - The Mayor of Singkawang, West Kalimantan, Tjhai Chui Mie was confirmed positive for COVID-19. Three members of his family are also infected with the same virus.

"I announced an unfavorable result, I and three of my family members tested positive," said Tjhai Chui Mie in a video quoted by Antara, Friday, September 4.

However, Tjhai Chui Mie confirmed that his health condition is getting better. He even announced a special menu for breakfast with his family.

"I've prepared honey, eggs, and bananas for my breakfast with my family," he said.

He asked residents not to be afraid but to be vigilant and follow strict health protocols. Tjhai Chui Mie requested that awareness of this health protocol be strengthened.

"Wash your hands using clean running water and apply soap, wear a mask, hand sanitizer, and keep your distance," he said.

Tjhai Chui Mie is the second regional head in West Kalimantan who is positive for COVID-19. Previously, the Regent of Melawi Panji and his six family members, who have now been declared cured.
