Used To Pour Water On Officers During PPKM, Medan Residents Rakesh Again Act Refusing To Wear Masks

MEDAN - A video of a man in the city of Medan named Rakesh refusing to wear a mask in public during a raid was widely circulated on social media.

In the 1 minute 44 second video, which was viewed on Monday, January 31, it shows a man wearing a sky blue shirt without a mask being flanked by Satpol PP officers and the police.

The video recorder questioned his reasons for refusing to wear a mask.

"Don't want me, like me, I don't want to," replied Rakesh.

Getting that answer, the video recorder reminded that the use of masks has been regulated in the regulations. However, the man replied that the rule was wrong and he felt his body was quite healthy.

In the midst of the debate, a Satpol PP officer then came and gave him a mask. Likewise with the provision of masks from a policewoman.

"I don't want to be forced," he said.

To avoid a commotion, a police officer who was at the location asked Rakesh to leave the location. Not long after, Rakesh then left the location.

Separately, the head of the Medan City Satpol PP, Rakhmat Adi Harahap, when confirmed confirmed the incident. Rakhmat said the incident occurred on Friday, January 28 at around 10.30 WIB, in front of the Plaza Medan Fair, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Medan.

The incident occurred when the Medan City Transportation Service conducted a raid in the area.

"This is not a mask raid, but a Dishub raid for masks," said Rakhmat when confirmed by VOI, Monday, January 31.

He emphasized that if the Satpol PP raid was carried out, the man would be immediately secured and swab on the spot.

"If we (Satpol PP) do the raids, we will definitely secure them for raids or swabs," he said.

To the public, Rakhmat reminded to keep wearing masks. He emphasized that there are severe sanctions awaiting for people who are found not wearing masks, especially in public places.

"We know that all punishments given to prokes violators are regulated in Perwal 11 of 2020 and Perwal 27 of 2020. There are several threats, one of which is detention of ID cards for 3 days," he said.
