Someone Surrendered, Suspects In The Riots At The West Java Regional Police To 12
BANDUNG - West Java Regional Police Head of Humas Kombes Pol Ibrahim Tompo said the number of suspected anarchists by the community organization (ormas) of the Indonesian Lower Society Movement (GMBI) had increased to 12 people.
He explained that the 12 suspects had the initials MFR, M ABAH, IRM, SBI, SN, SF, CP, AR, GG, GP, TSH, WN. One of them, said Ibrahim, is the general chairman of the mass organization, namely MFR.
"For those involved in the GMBI demonstration, further development will be carried out and there may still be more suspects," said Ibrahim at the West Java Regional Police, Bandung City, West Java, Monday, January 31.
According to him, MFR was arrested at his residence in Cimenyan District, Bandung Regency on Friday, January 28.
In addition, there was also a member of the GMBI with the initials SBI who surrendered to the Bandung Police. After that, officers from the Bandung Police took the SBI to the West Java Police and were named a suspect.
"This SBI is the first person to make an oration saying that I have 500 people who are ready to die. And in his car, he has prepared electric shocks, knife cutters, sickles, and softball sticks," he said.
Then the police also named a suspect against a GMBI member with the initials GG. Ibrahim said GG was the person riding the panther statue or "Maung Lodaya" which is the symbol of the West Java Regional Police.
"This suspect in addition to destroying the fence, he climbed onto the fence and climbed onto the statue. So we can process (insult) these symbols, but we will investigate later," he said.
The 12 suspects, he said, were subject to Article 170 and/or Article 160 and/or Article 406, as well as Article 55 and Article 56 of the Criminal Code. They face up to seven years in prison.
Previously, the action from the GMBI mass organization took place on Thursday (27/1) in front of the West Java Regional Police since this morning, causing congestion on Jalan Soekarno Hatta. The action then culminated in a riot in the afternoon around 15:00 WIB.
From the chaos, Ibrahim said that a number of facilities were damaged, starting from the gate, broken fences, broken lamps. The action was also marked by the throwing of stones by members of the mass organizations.
The action was carried out by the GMBI mass organization because of dissatisfaction with the handling of cases in Karawang Regency in 2021. However, the police said that the case had actually been processed and transferred to the prosecutor's office.
