KAI Gives 20 Percent Discount On Ticket Prices For Seniors

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has established the right to reduce or discount long-distance train tickets for a number of customer groups, including elderly customers aged 60 years or over.

"KAI provides the tariff reduction as an appreciation for customers in using trains as their mainstay mode of transportation," said KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus in a statement quoted by Antara, Monday, January 31.

Especially for elderly passengers, he said, the amount of the discount that KAI has set is 20 percent for all classes and applies every day. Other groups of customers also get discounted prices, namely Republic of Indonesia Veterans Legion (LVRI) members, National Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and journalists with various discount sizes and conditions.

"Check the terms and conditions of reduced tariffs for KAI customers on KAI121 social media or contact the Station Customer Service and KAI Contact Center," he said.

He explained that prospective customers who want to take advantage of reduced tariffs must register at the customer service station or the station counter if the station does not have customer service.

Prospective customers bring proof of original identity for valid discount rights. For the elderly, the document that must be shown is the original KTP of the prospective customer.

Registration can also be represented with an additional condition, namely bringing the latest photo of the customer to be registered. Registration is done no later than 3 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.

The registration is enough to be done once until the end of the reduction period for the customer in question. If the reduction period has expired and you want the right to be reduced again, you must re-register.

"For example, the cooperation agreement between the TNI/Polri and KAI has expired or the letter of assignment for reporting for journalists has expired," he said.

Customers who have registered reduction rights can buy tickets with reduced fares through KAI Access or at the station counter. On the day of departure, make sure the customer shows the original proof of identity in accordance with his reduction rights to the boarding officer.

Joni added that the provision of discounted rates for customers is expected to help people who want to travel at more affordable rates while still implementing the health protocols that have been set.

"We will convey the information on this reduction rate to the public so that there is no misinformation. The public should not hesitate to check information related to KAI services circulating in the community by contacting the station's customer service or the KAI Contact Center," he concluded.
