Coming To The Inauguration Of The PBNU Management, Jokowi Was Confused About Wearing A Sarong Or Long Pants

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) admitted that he was confused about what clothes to wear when he was present at the inauguration of the Executive Board and the 96th Birthday of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

He said this when giving a speech at the event. Jokowi said he had asked the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno about the clothes he would wear, whether to wear trousers or sarongs.

However, Jokowi finally chose to use a green sarong combined with a white shirt and gray suit and black cap.

"Last night I was confused, I asked the Minister of State Secretary, 'Mr Minister, what will you wear tomorrow?'," said Jokowi starting his remarks at the event which was broadcast online on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, January 31.

Jokowi said Pratikno explained about the clothes used by the syuriyah and tanfidziyah administrators. From that explanation, then Jokowi decided to use a sarong.

"'Sir, those who are syuriyah wear sarongs, those who are tanfidziyah wear trousers'. I conveyed to the Minister, 'I'm going with syuriyah only. Wear gloves'," he said, which was greeted by applause from the audience who came directly at the event.

Furthermore, Jokowi congratulated the inauguration of the 2022-2027 PBNU board under the leadership of Rais Aam Miftachul Akhyar and General Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf.

He hopes that NU can continue to protect the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and Pancasila. Not only that, Jokowi wants this religious organization to encourage religious moderation, tolerance and nationalism.

"Thank you for NU's work so far in protecting the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and in safeguarding Pancasila," said Jokowi.

"The view of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia at a fixed price has woven national unity. NU continues to encourage religious moderation, tolerance, and nationalism. NU can show the face of Islam, the face of Indonesia that is calm and friendly in the eyes of the world, and religions that enrich each other," he added.

Not only that, he also said that NU's contribution to Indonesia and the world was very large. Not only that, this organization is considered to have potential for the nation.

"NU is a huge potential for the nation. There are more and more great young talents at NU who are scattered in various professions," concluded Jokowi.
