Three Papuan Boys Bring Indonesian National Team To Beat Timor Leste In Last Trial
JAKARTA – Indonesia again defeated Timor Leste in the second match of the FIFA international trial. Shin Tae-yong's troops managed to bulldoze their opponent with a score of three goals without reply.
This match took place at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Gianyar, Bali, on Sunday, January 30. The winning goals for the Indonesian national team were scored by three Papuan sons, namely Terens Puhiri, Ramai Rumakiek, and Ricky Kambuaya.
Five minutes into the match, Indonesia immediately outperformed Timor Leste. Ricky Kambuaya's sweet bait was successfully completed by Terens Puhiri with a sweet flick.
In the 12th minute Marselino Ferdinand almost doubled the advantage for the Garuda team. However, his shot from outside the penalty box that led to the far corner was successfully thwarted by the opposing goalkeeper.
Elias Mesquita almost brought Timor Leste level in the 19th minute. He managed to net the ball into the Indonesian goal, but the goal was disallowed by the referee because he was caught offside.
Marselino had a golden opportunity in the 36th minute to carve his name on the scoreboard and increase the advantage for Indonesia. Unfortunately, his shot can still be thwarted by Junildo Pereira.
The second goal that the Indonesian national team had been waiting for just came four minutes before the break. Ramai Rumakiek scored a beautiful goal with a hard kick from outside the penalty box which was difficult for El Lafaek goalkeeper to stop.
Coming home from the dressing room, Marcelino again gave a threat to the opponent's goal in the 57th minute. He made a long-range shot, but the effort was inaccurate.
The third goal for Indonesia could only be born in the 72nd minute. Kambuaya was able to get past the last line of the opponent's defense and net the ball calmly into the left corner of the goal.
Primary Arhan and his friends continued to press the opponent after leading 3-0. However, no more goals were scored until the field court blew the long whistle signaling the game was over.
Indonesia previously carved out a victory over Timor Leste on Thursday, January 27. In that first match, the Garuda squad was able to win 4-1 after falling behind to the visitors.
