DKI Deputy Governor Says Availability Of Oxygen And BOR Is Still Sufficient, Even Though Omicron Cases Are Increasing

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Riza Patria stated that the availability of health facilities including oxygen is still sufficient. Despite the spread of COVID-19, the Omicron variant continues to grow.

"Then we will improve various health facilities (health facilities, ed) whether hospitals, health centers and other health facilities. Health workers, medicines, oxygen, and vitamins are all available in sufficient quantities, including vaccines," Riza told reporters on Sunday, 30 January.

Riza said bed occupancy or BOR at the COVID-19 referral hospital was still available. Although it is undeniable that the increase in Omicron cases has an impact on the availability of beds.

"So the data we received, the BOR was 56 percent. The previous day it was 54, now it has increased again. From 4,361 it was filled with 2,426," said Riza.

The DKI Provincial Government, said Riza, is ready if there will be a significant increase in COVID-19 cases.

"DKI is always ready, we are ready to add health facilities like at the peak of July-August 2021. Thank God DKI can quickly prepare before there is an increase, we are also ready to increase," said Riza.

Previously, Riza Patria said the local transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Jakarta continued to increase. It was recorded that local transmission reached 1,152 or 45.6 percent.

"(The Omicron case, ed) It has reached 2,526 people. It is interesting that now it is 1373 or 56.4 percent and interestingly, local cases have increased to 1,152 or 45.6 percent," said Riza.

Although the Omicron variant is not as vicious as the Delta variant, Riza asked DKI Jakarta residents to remain vigilant and continue to implement health protocols. Because, Omicron can cause fatal things for patients with comorbidities.

"Even though omicron is not as dangerous as the delta variant, it should not be taken lightly because there are cases of omicron who died in Jakarta, even though there are comorbidities," said Riza.
