Perbakin Makes ISSF An Opportunity To Test Shooting Athletes In Hanoi SEA Games Preparation

JAKARTA - The Executive Board of the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association (PB Perbakin) has a target when Indonesia will host the ISSF Grand Rifle/Pistol event.

For the first time, Indonesia will host the championship which is included in the International Shooting Federation (ISSF) calendar on February 8-18.

The championship is also intended to be used by Perbakin as a trial for national athletes in preparation for the 2021 Hanoi SEA Games on 12-23 May 2022 later.

"Of course, this event is also one of the trials for Indonesian shooting athletes to face the Hanoi SEA Games later," said PB Daily Chair Perbakin Siswanto as quoted by Antara.

Currently there are 21 shooting athletes who inhabit the national training center (Pelatnas). This number is certain to increase as the Southeast Asian event approaches.

Perbakin will continue to coordinate with various stakeholders such as the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Indonesian Olympic Committee regarding the addition of the number of Pelatnas athletes.

"Will the addition of these athletes use an independent budget or something like that, but what is certain is that there will be additions so that there will be a total of around 30 athletes," said Siswanto.

The national shooting master has a target to surpass the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines. At that time, Indonesia won seven gold, six silver and two bronze medals.

Shooting is one of the 14 leading sports that are included in the National Sports Great Design (DBON).

Other branches that are included in DBON are athletics, badminton, rock climbing, artistic gymnastics, bicycle racing, archery, swimming, rowing, karate, taekwondo, wushu, pencak silat, and weightlifting.
