Expanding Natural Gas Utilization In East Java, PGN Collaborates With Four Industrial Estates

JAKARTA - In order to expand the use of natural gas, PT PGN Tbk as the Gas Subholding PT Pertamina (Persero), cooperates with four industrial areas in the East Java region.

PGN signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and head of agreement (HOA) for natural gas business cooperation, supply supply, and natural gas infrastructure for industrial estates in East Java, reported by Antara, Thursday, January 27.

The four industrial estates are PT Kawasan Industri Gresik for the Tuban Industrial Estate; PT Jakamitra Indonesia, whose working area is in Lamongan; PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER), whose working area includes Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Pasuruan; and PT Maspion Industrial Estate.

The signing of the agreement was carried out by PGN President Director M Haryo Yunianto, Gresik Industrial Estate President Director Setyo Nugroho Haribowo, SIER Marketing and Development Director Silvester Budi Agung, Maspion President Director Alim Markus, and Jakamitra Indonesia President Director Imam Utomo.

Haryo said this agreement was aimed at assessing the potential for natural gas business cooperation and plans for the supply and its derivatives, either piped gas, compressed gas (CNG), or liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the main choice to meet the energy needs of tenants located in industrial areas. .

"Some functions that can be collaborated, we are open (to industrial areas) to participate in the natural gas business services, so that collaboration with industrial estates can be a strategic partner and can contribute to adding better services," he said. He added the market potential in the region. East Java can still develop again. According to him, the cooperation with the four industrial estates has the potential to increase the volume of natural gas by 5-7 BBTUD and the addition of natural gas infrastructure management by about 30 km.

"PGN is optimistic that integrated infrastructure can accelerate reliable natural gas access in East Java. Synergy with KIG, Jakamitra, Maspion, and SIER will further spur efforts to realize clean energy use and equitable access to natural gas, environmentally friendly, and of course, prove that gas earth as a solution in the current energy transition," said Haryo.
