Statement Of Hundreds Of Islamic Boarding Schools Affiliated With ISIS And JI Needs To Be Tested, Anwar Abbas MUI Encourages BNPT To Open

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has encouraged the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) to be open about Islamic boarding schools suspected of being affiliated with terrorist groups. This is to avoid suspicion and unrest in society.

"So that the problem is clear, BNPT should mention the names of the pesantren which are said to be affiliated with terrorism," said MUI Deputy Chairperson Anwar Abbas when contacted from Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, January 27.

Buya Anwar said the suspected Islamic boarding schools should be given space to explain the allegations from the BNPT and at the same time be tested whether they are involved in a terrorist network or not.

Because, he said, if left to be just an issue that there are hundreds of Islamic boarding schools affiliated with terrorism, it will cause chaos in the community and students cannot be calm in studying.

"If BNPT declares that a pesantren is wrong, let's test the conclusions of the BNPT together to find out whether the pesantren has made a mistake or not and we will do it openly," he said.

According to him, the testing will make it clear whether they are affiliated or not. That way, people will not worry about sending their children to boarding schools.

"If this has emerged in the community, of course this will have a bad impact on the world of Islamic boarding school education. So this will be able to make parents afraid to send and send their children to Islamic boarding schools and this is certainly not what we want and expect," he said. he.

Previously, Head of BNPT Boy Rafli Amar said his party had found a boarding school suspected of being affiliated with a terrorist network. Boy's statement was delivered during a working meeting with Commission III of the DPR some time ago.

According to him, there are 11 Islamic boarding schools affiliated with Jamaah Anshorir Khalifah, 68 affiliated with Jamaah Islamiyah, and 119 affiliated with Anshorut Daulah or ISIS sympathizers.
