The National Police Chief Changes Police Stations To Be Disability Friendly

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that he would make all police stations friendly to all groups, including those with disabilities. Currently, 50 percent of all regional units (satwil) and work units (satker) have provided facilities for people with disabilities.

"We continue to be committed to making police stations friendly to all groups, especially vulnerable groups and special needs. We are targeting that by 2022 the target for fulfilling facilities for persons with disabilities to reach 50 percent in all satwil and satker areas," said Sigit in his statement, Thursday, January 27.

In the target, continued Sigit, the Police under his leadership will build facilities for people with disabilities. For example, 730 child-friendly spaces, 676 disabled parking spaces, 122 special lanes for disabilities, 1,088 disabled toilets, 100 special signs for disability, 1,454 elevator handrails, 320 wheelchairs, 2,468 lactation rooms.

"The National Police will also add audio-visual instructions for blind and deaf people who want to get Police services with a target of 100 regional units," said Sigit.

This commitment to services for persons with disabilities has been carried out for a long time. It is recorded that 1,975 child-friendly spaces, 2,604 special signs for disability have been built in 2021.

Then, the procurement of 1,250 elevator handrails, 2,582 special lanes for disability, 2,028 disabled parking, 236 lactation rooms, 1,616 special toilets for disabilities, 2,384 wheelchairs have also been carried out.

"This is an increase in the quality of public services and for the sake of realizing a Precision Police (predictive, responsible, and fair transparency)," said Sigit.
