Edy Mulyadi Calls East Kalimantan The Place Of 'Genies Throw Children', Bahlil: Position Number 4 Highest Investment Realization Under Jakarta, West Java, And East Java

JAKARTA - Recently, the province of East Kalimantan has become a topic of discussion on social media, after being previously referred to as a place for genies to throw children away by Edy Mulyadi. However, the place that seemed to be described as scary by Edy, turned out to be the number four investment destination.

Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said that East Kalimantan was actually the number four province with the highest investment realization after East Java.

"Then East Kalimantan, which yesterday was said to be an inappropriate place to be disclosed, turned out to be the number 4 contributor (highest investment realization in the fourth quarter of 2021) of IDR 16.4 trillion," he said in a virtual press conference, Thursday, January 27.

Because of that, Bahlil also requested that he no longer discriminate between one island and another. Because, according to Bahlil, it's time to build Indonesia-centric.

"So I beg you for now we do justice. So build Indonesia-centric. There is no need to differentiate between this island, this island, this island is not good. It's not good either," he said.

"Because economic investment is black, the important thing is that the money is better, than what is considered good but there is no deposit," he continued.

Bahlil said that the distribution of investment had begun to be even, no longer centered on the island of Java. This is evident from the data on the five highest investment locations, where East Kalimantan to North Maluku are included.

The five highest investment locations in the fourth quarter of 2021 are DKI Jakarta with IDR 30.8 trillion. Then West Java Rp. 28.9 trillion. Then East Java Rp26.8 trillion. East Kalimantan Rp. 16.4 trillion and North Maluku Rp. 15.3 trillion.

"This reflects that people outside Java are also investment-friendly, friendly in the economy and friendly and so on," he said.

For your information, Edy Mulyadi got the spotlight because of his statement. He said that East Kalimantan, which is the state capital (IKN), is a place for genies to dispose of children.
