"I'm happy to hear that the film industry has started to recover, cinemas have started to rise after being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Reza told about the challenges of building a national film industry that needs to be supported by all parties," he said on Thursday, January 27.
From the results of his discussion, the Minister of Finance is optimistic that filmmakers and creative industry players in the country have enormous potential.
"The potential of Indonesian films is extraordinary, it must be developed to the maximum," he said.
Based on the meeting, the Minister of Finance understood that there were actually obstacles that hindered this sector from being able to grow.
"However, the quality of film human resources (HR) still needs to be improved. The script writers are still limited," he said.
As the main manager of the state budget, Sri Mulyani gave a signal that there is actually room in state finances that can be utilized for the advancement of the national film industry.
"The government can support the development of film creative human resources through education and scholarship programs," he said.
Furthermore, the Minister of Finance also heard several issues that were of concern to industry players.
"Reza, as Chair of the Indonesian Film Festival Committee (FFI) told about the FFI 2022 plan regarding female film workers who still do not receive the same compensation as their male counterparts, and also about the welfare and protection of film workers," he explained.
