Sharapova Return After Shoulder Injury

JAKARTA - Former world number one Maria Sharapova will open her 2020 season in Brisbane after being granted a wild card facility by organizers, the five-time champion of the major tournament announced Monday.

The 32-year-old Russian has not played since her first-round defeat by career rival Serena Williams at the US Open last August.

"Hi Brisbane, I miss you very much and I am very excited to start my season at your tournament and in your city," said Sharapova in a video message on her Instagram account.
