KPK Reminds Witness Called Regarding Alleged Bribery Of Langkat Regent Cooperative

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminded the witnesses who would be presented to investigate allegations of bribery in infrastructure procurement by the inactive Langkat Regent. This warning was given because investigators immediately scheduled an examination of them.

"KPK will immediately schedule the summons of witnesses. For this reason, we urge the parties being examined as witnesses to be cooperative in attending," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Thursday, January 27.

In addition to attending, Ali asked them to be honest about what they knew about the alleged murder by Terbit. This is because the witnesses presented by the Corruption Eradication Commission are those who are suspected of knowing the conduct of the suspects.

"(The witness, ed) gave an honest statement in front of the investigative team," he said.

The KPK also reminded all parties not to hinder the process of investigating this bribery case. Moreover, there are criminal penalties for anyone who does so.

"KPK does not stop reminding various parties not to intentionally obstruct the ongoing investigation process," he said.

As previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Langkat Regent Publishing a Plan for Warring Angin as a suspect in bribery related to infrastructure projects. This decision was made after the anti-corruption commission held an OTT on Tuesday, January 18.

He was named along with four other suspects, namely the Village Head of Balai Kasih who is the brother of Terbit Plan, Iskandar PA; and three private persons or contractors, namely Marcos Surya Abdi, Shuhandra Citra, and Isfi Syahfitra. Then as a bribe giver is Muara Warin Angin which is a private party or contractor.

In this case, the KPK suspects that Terbit managed the implementation of the infrastructure work project package in Langkat Regency.

In addition, he also ordered his subordinates to actively coordinate with his brother, Iskandar, who was his representative to select the contractors who won the work packages at the PUPR Service and the Education Office.
