Illegal Logging Conspiracy In Buleleng Forest Arrested

BULELENG - The Sukasada Police, Buleleng, Bali, arrested a group of rosewood loggers in the Munduk Tiing Tali Forest area.

The perpetrators are Wayan Dapetyasa, Komang Yasa, Rohmad David Salam, Febrianto and Komang Sujana alias Daplut.

"The team has succeeded in disclosing the crime of deliberately selling, marketing, buying, transporting, illegally cutting forest products," said Sukasada Police Chief Kompol Made Agus Dwi Wirawan at the Buleleng Police Headquarters, Bali, Thursday, January 27.

The disclosure of illegal logging occurred on Friday, January 21. Police get information theft of wood in the forest. Police along with several parties moved to the location.

Officers found three logs of wood, of which two were already on a pickup and one was on a stroller. At the location, the perpetrators named Wayan Dapetyasa and Komang Yasa were arrested.

"During the interrogation, they admitted their actions and they were the ones carrying out the work of transporting the wood. Meanwhile, the other perpetrators had fled after seeing the police officers and Babinsa who came," added Wirawan.

From this arrest, the police later arrested other perpetrators, namely Rohmad David Salam, Febrianto and Komang Sujana alias Daplut.

The evidence that was secured was a pickup truck, 4 pieces of logs of the type of rosewood, 1 tool for transportation or gretek, Rp2,500,000 in cash.

"The evidence for the chainsaw machine is still being searched because according to the suspects, the chainsaw machine used in the activity of felling the Sonokeling wood tree was left behind and after a search of the crime scene was not found," he said.

The illegal loggers were charged with Article 87 letter a in conjunction with Article 12 letter k, RI Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction.
