KPK Calls Ubedilah Gibran-Kaesang Reporter For Communication And Checking

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had summoned a lecturer at the State University of Jakarta (UNJ), Ubedilah Badrun.

This summons was made to communicate and check further regarding the reporting of alleged corruption by the two children of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Kaesang Pangarep.

"That is true (called, ed) because every public report we will definitely follow up with clarification and verification. For what? To be called and then communicate with the reporting party related to the report to check whether it meets the requirements," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri to journalists quoted from the KPK RI YouTube, Wednesday, January 25.

"And today (which, red) is done like that, yes," he added.

Even so, Ali could not detail the conversation between Ubedilah and the public complaints party because it was kept secret. Moreover, this process is already regulated by law.

"What the discussion between the Dumas and the reporting party cannot be conveyed," he said.

"Because once again, in principle, the material for the report and the reporter as law enforcers cannot be conveyed to the public because the whistleblower is protected by law, especially then the material for the report. But it's different if the reporter is the one who exposes it, that's beyond our authority," Ali added. Meanwhile, Ubedilah, after meeting with the public complaints section, said that her party had been clarified about her report. On that occasion, he also brought additional documents but he did not explain further what they contained.

"Clarification to clarify our complaint so as not to lead to interpretation," Ubedilah told reporters.

Ubedilah did not provide details on the subject matter of the clarification because the KPK was still in the process. He also fully entrusts the process to the KPK.

"We trust the KPK to carry out the mandate of this country, continue this process according to the law, we respect the KPK," said Ubed.

"We believe that in this republic there is equality before the law, everyone is equal before the law and we also hold the principle of the presumption of innocence," he concluded.
