These Are The Best-selling Product Categories On Tokopedia Throughout 2021

JAKARTA - Tokopedia continues to provide the widest possible stage for business activists, including local MSME players from various industries, such as fashion, food and beverage as well as beauty and personal care to adapt in the midst of a pandemic.

"Tokopedia's shopping trend throughout 2021 noted that the Women's Fashion category is still one of the public's favorite categories. On the other hand, the Jewelery, Accessories and Women's Clothing sub-category is the sub-category that has the highest transaction value during 2021," said Tokopedia's Head of Category Development (Fashion), Falah Fakhriyah.

Various fashion products, such as t-shirts, masks and sneakers are some of the most popular fashion products during 2021 at Tokopedia. Meanwhile, hijab, pashmina and embroidered mukena are some of the most sought after Muslim fashion products by the public.

This is also driven by a series of Tokopedia initiatives that are presented to local MSME players in the fashion industry, including the West Java Local Fashion Festival, Bersebelas #MecepatBareng, Market & Museum at Home, JakCloth, and many others.

For example, Nokha, a local fashion business from Bandung which is able to employ more than 150 employees - almost 80% of whom are housewives to colleagues with disabilities - thanks to selling online.

Nopi Hadzic, the owner of Nokha, said “Nokha's transactions through Tokopedia will increase by 3 times in 2021 compared to the previous year. By regularly participating in various campaigns on Tokopedia, Nokha has even produced up to 800 shoe orders within 2 days.”

Several other initiatives were also presented by Tokopedia to meet people's daily needs, from food and beverages to beauty and personal care.

Through collaboration with local MSME players in the food and beverage sector, Tokopedia Nyam has pushed the Food and Beverage category on Tokopedia to become one of the favorite categories. This can be seen from gayo coffee and fried bananas, which are the most popular foods in the Tokopedia Nyam campaign throughout 2021.

On the other hand, in the third quarter of 2021, Beauty and Personal Care became one of the categories that experienced the fastest increase in the number of transactions on Tokopedia. The number of sellers in this category has almost doubled. Sunscreens, face serums, face masks, cleansers and face creams (local brands) are some of the most popular beauty products.

"Through collaboration with various parties, it is hoped that local MSMEs can become hosts in their own country and can rise together to restore the economy, considering that MSMEs are the supporters of more than 60% of the national GDP," concluded Falah.
