Conditions On Haruku Island, Central Maluku, Are Claimed To Be Conducive After The Clashes
AMBON - The Maluku Regional Police claimed that the conditions on Haruku Island, Central Maluku, Maluku, were already conducive after clashes between Ori and Kariuw citizens.
"The current situation and conditions are conducive, there is no more attacking each other, then we have a plan to open a tent there to accommodate refugees from villagers who fled to the forest or to neighboring villages," said Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes M Roem Ohoirat. quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 26.
He said three companies of joint TNI/Polri personnel were on guard at the site after the clashes.
"Meanwhile they are communicating and coordinating with local residents to refrain from attacks," he said.
The Maluku Regional Police appealed to people who had fled to return to their villages. According to Roem, the TNI/Polri guarantee security.
According to Roem, three people died and two were injured in the clashes.
“The remaining two, I have not received clear information which hospital to treat, but what is clear is Ambon Hospital. I'll ask again later," he said.
The clashes between residents are suspected to be due to misunderstandings regarding land in the two villages, namely Ori and Kariuw. This has resulted in mutual attacks, from Tuesday morning to Wednesday.
