PCNU Chairs Sidoarjo And Banyuwangi Tabayun To Gus Yahya About The Report On Political Events Related To The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The Chair of the Sidoarjo Regency PCNU, Zainal Abidin, and the Banyuwangi Regency PCNU Chair, Mohammad Ali Makki, answered the call for tabayun with the PBNU General Chair, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya).

"Today, the Chairs of PCNU Sidoarjo and Banyuwangi have arrived and have been direct," said PBNU Chairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf at the PBNU office, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 26.

The chairman of PCNU Banyuwangi was summoned after PBNU received a report of a political agenda for the 2024 Presidential Election involving PCNU Banyuwangi. In fact, the activity was also held at the PCNU Banyuwangi office on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, by bringing in figures who are also predicted to run in the 2024 presidential election.

Meanwhile, the summons for the Sidoarjo PCNU was based on a report on activities initiated by the Sidoarjo PKB DPC and involving all MWCNU in Sidoarjo Regency.

This time, Tabayun is important because NU's institutional involvement in the activities of political parties in the two districts has become a public issue and1 is faced with the statement of the PBNU general chairman who asserts that NU should not be a tool or used for practical political purposes.

"NU institutionally should not be involved or involved in practical political activities," said Gus Yahya.

In addition to direct tabayun, the heads of PCNU Sidoarjo and Banyuwangi also submitted written reports containing a description of the chronology of events accompanied by other related explanations.

Gus Yahya assessed that the written reports and verbal explanations of the two PCNU leaders had provided a complete picture of the alleged involvement of the two in practical political activities.

Gus Yahya concluded that there was carelessness that caused NU to be institutionally involved in practical political activities in the two regions.

For this reason, the chairman of PCNU Sidoarjo and the chairman of PCNU Banyuwangi stated that they were responsible and apologized for their mistakes, and promised not to make similar mistakes in the future.

On this occasion, Gus Yahya also reiterated that NU should not be institutionally involved in the activities of any political party for practical political purposes.

In relation to PCNU Sidoarjo and PCNU Banyuwangi, PBNU has given verbal warnings and directions on things that must be done further.

The warning also applies to all PCNU, PWNU and all staff throughout Indonesia. If in the future the same thing happens by any institution and anywhere within NU, then according to him, PBNU will give a written warning.

As for other parties outside NU, he said this would be followed up through communication to the parties concerned.
