BPS DKI Says Thousands Of Toddlers In East Jakarta Suffer From Malnutrition

JAKARTA - Based on data released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta Province in 2020, the number of toddlers with malnutrition in East Jakarta reached 1,826 toddlers. This figure is the highest number of children under five with malnutrition in Jakarta.

PMI East Jakarta Secretary Eki Kumalasari confirmed the high number of cases of malnutrition. However, it continues to provide nutrition to improve nutrition.

"East Jakarta is among the highest statistically, but the commitments and efforts made involve all sectors because this is a social responsibility for preventing stunting," he told reporters, Wednesday, January 26.

Meanwhile, one of the villages with the highest number of cases of malnutrition under five is in Jati Village, Pulogadung District.

The Head of Pulogadung Sub-district, Bambang Pangestu, said that in Jati Village there are 261 toddlers with malnutrition. They were also given nutritional assistance.

"In Pulogadung District, there is no stunting-prone area. But there are toddlers who are malnourished," he said.

As is known, as many as 5,100 toddlers in 23 sub-districts throughout East Jakarta have received nutritional assistance since October 2021. After receiving the nutritional supplements, PMI, PKK and other officers continued to monitor toddlers who were affected by malnutrition.
