JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron, said the people who were locked in an iron cage at the house of the Langkat Regent, who was not active in the Terbit Warin Angin Plan, were oil palm plantation workers.
This acknowledgment was obtained by the Corruption Eradication Commission when conducting a hand arrest operation (OTT) some time ago and looking for Terbit at his house, where the cage is located.
"At that time the investigative team did not find the person concerned but instead found two rooms containing people. Because the KPK suspected that there was a problem, the KPK then asked who the people were," said Ghufron in a video statement to reporters quoted on Wednesday. , January 25.
When asked that question, they claimed to be workers in the palm oil plantation owned by Terbit. Ghufron admitted that his team at that time did not do much other than documenting and coordinating their findings with other law enforcement officers.
The reason the KPK at that time did not do much was because they were pursuing Publishing. Moreover, when the anti-corruption commission team arrived, he was no longer at his house.
"The people inside then explained that they were workers in the palm oil plantation belonging to the Langkat Regent," said Ghufron.
"Because the goal is to secure the regent, the KPK investigators team moved to another place to look for the person concerned. However, the KPK has documented the findings and has coordinated with law enforcement officials," he added.
Furthermore, Ghufron emphasized that his party was committed to assisting and providing the documentation he called. Not only that, it will also coordinate with related parties.
"KPK is coordinating with law enforcement officials and currently law enforcement officers and Komnas HAM have carried out processes according to their respective authorities," he stressed. added Ghufron.

The seven cruel treatments included Terbit building a prison or human cage in his house to accommodate oil palm workers, the workers were not allowed to go anywhere, beaten, fed improperly twice a day, and were not paid when working in Tebit's oil palm plantations.
