Trial Of Closing The Railroad Crossing At Bungur Kemayoran: Residents Ask Impact, Officers Can't Answer

JAKARTA - PT KAI will close the railroad crossing (KA) plot on Jalan Bungur 17, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta in March. The closure was carried out due to the development at Manggarai Station so that the volume of train travel increased.

However, before the official closure is carried out, PT KAI will conduct a trial first.

"The Ministry of Railways Directorate wants to conduct a trial closure at the railway crossing gate, it is only a trial, not closure, which will be carried out on February 1," said Central Jakarta Assistant for Economic Development (Asekbang), Bakwan Ferizan Ginting when contacted by reporters, Wednesday, January 26.

Ginting said that his party had carried out socialization to the local community. From the socialization, many people asked about the impact of the closure.

"Yesterday's socialization to the community, they must have questioned what the impact would be, but we can't say clearly what it will be like. This will be tested first, what kind of impact it will have, so we look for alternatives," he said.

During the trial, Ginting said there would be evaluations every week. This is to find out what kind of impact will happen if it is really closed.

"After this trial, it will be evaluated every Sunday, what the impact will be. For example, people, motorbikes or bicycles may still be able to pass first, unless the car will be diverted according to the alternative route that has been made," he said.
