55 Narcotics Convicts Transferred To Nusakambangan Prison Cilacap
JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) transferred 55 narcotics convicts to the Nusakambangan Prison, Cilacap, Central Java, Tuesday, January 25 in the morning.
"This is a form of commitment from the Banten Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office in eradicating drug trafficking," said Head of the Banten Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office Tejo Harwanto in a written statement received in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 26.
In addition to efforts to eradicate illicit drug trafficking which is potentially carried out by prisoners, the transfer is also to minimize disturbances to security and order.
"In addition to the 55 narcotics convicts, we have also transferred three convicts of homicide cases with high risk categories," he said.
He said that before the inmates were transferred, a rapid antigen test was carried out first. This is part of the implementation of the health protocol for the spread of COVID-19.
The 55 inmates who were transferred to the Nusakambangan prison were directly escorted by the Banten Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Polda) unit, he said.
