2 Karawang Residents Exposed To Local Transmission Omicron

KARAWANG - The Karawang Regency COVID-19 Task Force, West Java, said that two local residents were detected as being exposed to the Omicron variant from local transmission.

"The two people who were exposed to the Omicron variant are currently being treated at the Karawang Hospital," said Karawang Regent Cellica Nurrachadiana, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 25.

Cellica said that the two Karawang residents who were detected as being exposed to the Omicron variant were not foreign travelers, but were local transmissions.

For this condition, his party is currently increasing vigilance to prevent the further spread of the variant.

Spokesperson for the Karawang COVID-19 Handling Task Force Fitra Hergyana appealed to local residents to continue implementing health protocols.

As a precautionary measure, his party will intensify tracking in areas where there are residents who are exposed to the variant.

"The task force has also held a meeting to deal with this Omicron. Indeed, at this time it turns out that there is a local transmission," he said.

Based on the information gathered, the two residents of Karawang who were detected as being exposed to the Omicron variant include a teacher who has received a full dose of COVID-19 vaccination, even a booster, while one other person is an elderly person aged 58 years who has not received a COVID-19 vaccination.
