Police: Victims Of Brawl In Cirebon Could Be Suspects For Provoking Riots
CIREBON - Cirebon City Police Chief, AKBP Fahri Siregar, said that the victims of the brawl that occurred some time ago could also be made suspects. Currently, officers are still looking for evidence to ensnare him.
"We can charge the victim with Article 160 of the Criminal Code (for provocation by challenging a brawl through social media)," said AKBP Fahri, in Cirebon quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 25.
He said the victim of the beating that started in the brawl could be made a suspect, because the person concerned was actively provoking through social media.
Even from the statements of several suspects, the victim made an attempt to stab one of the suspects, but only hit a few because he was blocked.
For this reason, the police will collect other evidence so that they can ensnare the victim as a suspect, this is done so that everyone will be deterred, and will not commit his actions again.
"We will also look for other evidence, because there is a high possibility that the victim could be a suspect," he said.
The victim of the beating is currently still lying in the hospital, because the wound is quite serious, and even has to have more than 100 stitches stitched. "The victim received 100 stitches, both on the head, hands, and back," he said.
Previously, the Cirebon City Police arrested six perpetrators of a brawl that resulted in injuries to the victim after being hit by several sharp weapons, and they carried out their actions by using social media to challenge each other.
AKBP Fahri said the six suspects arrested were Marfin, Hafid, Umam, Slamet, Azis, and Haryanto. Together they beat the victim.
According to him, the brawl occurred after the victim, Su'ambar, challenged the group of suspects through social media. After raising their challenge several times, the suspects only responded, by inviting a brawl in one place in Cirebon.
