JAKARTA - East Jakarta Metro Police investigators are still investigating the motive for the beating that killed Wiyanto Halim alias WH (89), an elderly man who was beaten to death by a mob accused of stealing a car in Pulogadung, East Jakarta.

The attorney for the victim's family, Freddy Y Patty, said that Wiyanto had a background in land disputes for the last 30 years and had received death threats. Investigators, said Freddy, are still investigating the motive for the case

"I've already said that, based on the investigator's examination of the five people who are suspects, they have no connection with the background of the victim," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol. Endra Zulpan, Tuesday, January 25.

One of the reporters then asked whether the death threats would be investigated further? Zulpan replied that his staff would continue to develop the case of beating Wiyanto Halim.

"We have been profiling people from the first TKP (crime scene) to the last. That will answer the allegations (of death threats). This means that it is still ongoing, it is possible that this case if everything is secured, we will examine it, this will answer, "explained Kombes Zulpan.

When asked whether the police will investigate any suspected death threats? Kombes Zulpan did not answer, he immediately took the car out of the East Jakarta Police Headquarters.

As previously reported, the East Jakarta Police have named five suspects in connection with the persecution of Wiyanto to death on Jalan Pulo Kambing, Pulogadung, East Jakarta. In determining the suspect, the police have not revealed the background of the incident.

The East Jakarta Police are still investigating and looking for other perpetrators to uncover this case.
